Recently, a team from Graceway traveled to Uganda with one goal: to join God in spreading the gospel and meeting people’s real, tangible needs. Uganda, one of the largest refugee-hosting nations in Africa, is filled with both great challenges and incredible opportunities for hope.
Throughout the trip, our team provided medical and dental care to underserved communities, installed clean water tanks—funded by our Graceway students and families—and connected with youth who had been rescued from exploitation. Each moment created space to share the love of Jesus not only in word but through action.
As one team member, Victor Flores, shared, “Seeing the joy in the women’s faces [when they received water tanks] was priceless. Meeting their physical needs gave us the chance to show them God’s love.” Others described playing soccer with kids, hearing stories of survival and healing, and witnessing firsthand how God is moving through ministries like the Shepherd Center and Glow Girls School.
“I saw God forcing us to depend on one another and His strength,” said Jarron Tilghman. “I came back with a new understanding of how much we’re called to share our stories and our faith.”
Jackson Schell reflected, “It’s always sad to see how many kids in the world are struggling. But the joy they have—even in tough situations—reminds me that God is still working in their lives.”
The team also came home changed. “Perspective was a huge word for our trip,” Victor said. “Serving others in this way reminded me of how much I take for granted. Everyone should experience something like this.”
Graceway believes that when we meet people’s physical needs, we open doors to meeting their spiritual needs, too. That’s exactly what this trip was about—sharing Christ through compassion, care, and connection.
We ask our Graceway family to continue praying for the people of Uganda—for protection, provision, and open hearts. We also pray for our team members as they return with a renewed passion for what God is doing in the world.
