Hi Graceway Family,
This year at Graceway, we’ve already celebrated 201 baptisms. That number isn’t just a statistic! 201 baptisms represent real people whose lives have been changed by Jesus. Every story is unique, but every baptism points us back to the same gospel truth: Jesus saves.
Baptism is more than getting wet or following a church tradition. From a pastoral standpoint, baptism is about identity. When you step into the water, you are declaring, “My life belongs to Jesus.” Going under the water symbolizes that your old life, with its sin and brokenness, has been buried with Christ. Rising up again shows that you’ve been raised with Him into new life, forgiven and free.
It’s also about community. Baptism isn’t a private act; it’s public. You’re standing before your church family and saying, “I’m with Jesus, and I’m with His people.” In that moment, we get to cheer, clap, and celebrate together, because baptism isn’t just your story, it’s our story of God’s grace at work.
And finally, baptism is about obedience. Jesus Himself was baptized, and He commanded His followers to do the same. It’s the first step in a lifetime of walking with Him. You don’t need to have all the answers, and you don’t need to have life perfectly figured out. Baptism is simply your “yes” to Jesus.
After Easter, hundreds of you said you wanted to take this step. Many have, but some haven’t yet scheduled their baptism. If that’s you, I want to encourage you: don’t put it off. There’s no better time than now to declare your faith and let your church family celebrate with you.
We schedule baptisms every other week, so your opportunity is right around the corner.
Let’s keep celebrating the life-changing power of Jesus.
