    UNSTOPPABLE: Without Hindrance (Acts 21:37-28:31)

    Sunday July 19th, 2026

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:18-20)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

"He is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel." (Acts 9:15)

"He lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him, proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance." (Acts 28:30–31)

    “without hindrance”

… I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Mt 16:18)

So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God! (Acts 5:38-39)

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” (My 7:24-27)

He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. (Acts 1:3)

    GROUP NOTES

    1. What does Luke's final phrase, "without hindrance," teach us about the character of God's kingdom? Looking back over the book of Acts, what examples stand out to you where God used opposition, suffering, or setbacks to advance His purposes? How does that change the way you interpret difficulties in your own life?

    2. What tends to captivate the modern church, and what captivated the early church? The early believers were consumed with the reign of King Jesus more than the growth of an institution. What are some good things that can subtly become ultimate things in the life of a church or in your own walk with Christ? How can we continually keep the kingdom of God at the center?

    3. Where is God calling you to be a more courageous witness? Throughout Acts, ordinary believers boldly testified about Jesus in homes, workplaces, courtrooms, prisons, and public spaces. Who has God placed in your life that needs to hear or see the hope of the gospel? What step of obedience is He asking you to take this week?

    4. How does God's sovereignty give you confidence in uncertain circumstances? Acts reminds us that prisons, storms, political opposition, and persecution never escaped God's control. What current situation in your life is tempting you toward fear or anxiety? How does the truth that Christ still reigns change your perspective?

    5. What does it mean for our generation to "take the baton" from the early church? Acts ends without finishing Paul's story because the mission continues through Christ's church today. If future generations looked back on our church and our lives, what evidence would they see that we faithfully carried the gospel forward? What would faithfulness look like for you personally, your family, and our church in this season?
