UNSTOPPABLE: The Confronting Kingdom (Acts 19)

    Sunday July 5th, 2026
    ‘Ephesus”

The Ministry of Paul in Ephesus (19:1–10)
    • “all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks."
The Spiritual Darkness of Ephesus (19:11–41)
    • "God was doing extraordinary miracles…" (19:11)
    • Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” (19:13)
    • So the word of the Lord continued to increase and prevail mightily. (19:20)
    • About that time there arose no little disturbance concerning the Way. For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen. (Acts 19:23-24)
    NOTES

    GROUP NOTES

    1. What is the "invisible architecture" of your life?
Acts 19 reminds us that every city—and every heart—is organized around what it worships. What do you most naturally look to for your security, identity, hope, or significance? How can you tell whether Jesus truly sits on the throne of your heart, or whether something else has become ultimate?

    2. Where might your faith be sincere but incomplete?
Like the disciples Paul first encountered in Ephesus, we can genuinely desire to follow God while still having blind spots or areas where we need to grow. What is one area where the Holy Spirit has been teaching, correcting, or stretching you? What step of obedience is He inviting you to take next?

    3. What "books" need to be burned?
The Ephesian believers didn't merely confess their old practices—they removed anything that kept pulling them back toward their old life. Is there a habit, relationship, mindset, source of entertainment, addiction, fear, or pursuit that continually competes for your allegiance to Christ? What would genuine repentance look like in that area?

    4. How is Jesus calling you to engage the spiritual battle?
Paul reminded the Ephesians that Christ is "far above all rule and authority and power and dominion" (Eph. 1:20–21), and later called them to stand firm in spiritual warfare (Eph. 6:10–20). Where do you most need to rely on Christ's authority rather than your own strength? How can prayer, Scripture, and obedience become part of your daily spiritual rhythm?

    5. If Jesus became unquestionably King in our church, what might change in our city
Paul never set out to start a political movement or overthrow the culture. He preached Christ, made disciples, and the city eventually felt the effects. Imagine if every believer at Graceway fully surrendered every area of life to King Jesus. How might that reshape your family, your workplace, your neighborhood, and ultimately Kansas City? What role has God given you in that work?
